2024 Kia Forte Review -- Forte GT
Continuing its run as one of the spacious, best equipped, reliable, AND least expensive in its class, the 2024 Kia Forte works hard to cover many aspects of car ownership.
With its low price, customers don’t have to wait for a Kia Forte sale to save money on the cost of a new car. In this review, we’ll look at how the 2024 model year makes this compact sedan more competitive at your Earnhardt Kia Forte dealer. You can click on this Kia K4 Review to find out about the Forte's exciting replacement.
Dash Tech Explained
Despite its low price, the small sedan has an 8-inch color touchscreen with automatic light control. This system can keep you connected to the latest in information and entertainment.
HD radio expands the car’s reach to many more available stations. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide connectivity that includes many of your favorite smartphone apps on your screen.
With the navigation system, the sedan gains the biggest touch screen of all. This is a 10.25-inch display that has sharp, well-defined color and the best voice controls. This system has Kia Connect, more speakers, more USB ports, and an integrated modem.
Performance and Fuel Economy
Small but quick, the Forte’s lightweight build helps it take every advantage of the horses under the hood. A four-cylinder engine creates 147 horsepower that is controlled by an automatic, known as an Intelligent Variable Transmission. The transmission’s torque converter helps it utilize every bit of the engine’s 132 lb-ft of torque.
Highway fuel economy is 41 mpg on the LX. The LXS and GT-Line earn an excellent 39 mpg on the highway. If you choose the 6-speed manual, the Forte earns 22 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.
GT models have a turbocharged engine that spits out 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. A multi-link rear suspension improves handling over the pits and bumps of the road.
Kia Drive Wise Features
There are Kia Drive Wise standards even on the entry level LX trim. This car’s low price tag still entitles the buyer to lane keeping assist, lane following assist, and the forward collision avoidance assist (FCAA).
These features encompass a steering assist and an emergency autobrake to help you avoid crash situations. Furthermore, the collision warning system watches for both stopping cars and pedestrians.
Forte GT Line models add a blind spot collision avoidance assist, a steering response to help you correct your car’s trajectory. Likewise, the rear cross traffic collision avoidance assist can warn you about side traffic and actively assist you with stopping to avoid a fender bender.
Another GT-Line standard and LXS option, a safe exit warning is aimed at reducing the chances of a child (or adult) opening the door into traffic.
Trim Levels LX vs LXS
The base trim level is the 2024 Kia Forte LX. Its low price allows it to undercut the competition. Yet the standards list is quite competitive. This model has the dash tech connectivity and DriveWise features already explained. They also have high beam assist and a driver attention warning.
Cockpits boast a 4.2-inch LCD driver display. Drivers enjoy the benefits of keyless entry and an illuminated key lock cylinder. Door armrests are covered in deluxe leatherette for softness. Both front row seats have 6-way adjustability.
Stepping up from the LX, the LXS is more of a good thing. This inexpensive trim level has 16-inch alloy wheels that are lighter and larger than the LX model. Interiors are softer thanks to soft-touch upper and lower door trim panels. In the back seat, the rear seat can split-fold to help address more hauling needs. Shoppers can add an inexpensive package to gain more driver assistance tech.
Kia Forte GT Line and GT Trim Levels
New for 2024, Kia adds the navigation-based smart cruise control to the GT Line. This utilizes stop-and-go technology to regulate your speed even when traffic is busy. Highway Driving Assist is another new GT Line standard. Plus it has the top collision warning system that includes junctions and cyclists. These changes bring it in line with the Forte GT.
GT-Line trims add lots of sporty style to the Forte. The cockpit is upgraded with sports seats and a flat-bottom steering wheel. There’s more connectivity thanks to the largest touch screen. With the addition of the Smart Key, the driver gains push button start and the smart trunk feature.
Dual zone automatic climate controls regulate the interior climate better. Best of all, the seats are covered in a combination of SynTex leatherette and a special cloth upholstery. Shoppers can choose a premium package to get ventilated seats.
Upgraded for more fun, Forte GT models have bolstered sport seats, special LED interior lighting, and a wireless charger. Back row passengers have more conveniences such as a rear-facing USB port and dedicated rear air conditioning vents./p>
A rich SynTex and cloth combination is standard on the GT. These models have the option of ventilated front seats, a 10-way power driver’s chair, and full SynTex upholstery. Drivers do have a choice of a manual transmission on this trim level.
Cost to Own
The 2024 Forte price is still less than $20,000. The LX MSRP is $19,790 while the LXS Forte price is just $20,290 MSRP. With these low prices, it starts out affordable. Then it stays affordable with its terrific fuel economy.
JD Power Initial Quality Study has put the Forte at the top of the Compact Car segment for four years in a row. This demonstrates that the car is well made, and the technologies work as intended. The independent analyst has given a high score for reliability, which is excellent given its low price.
Warranty coverage remains a major reason to choose the 2024 Kia Forte. It is so generous, offering to cover up to two more years with its 5-year limited warranty and up to 5 more years with its 10-year powertrain warranty . In addition, there’s complimentary roadside assistance.
