2025 Kia Niro Review

With the addition of the plug-in capability and a , the 2025 Kia Niro PHEV has an increased output of 180 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque. It has the ability to run for 33 miles on electric power alone. This covers many daily drives and may even cover your commute.

The extra capability increases fuel efficiency to 108 mpg-equivalent.  The driving range is excellent at 510 miles. Trim levels include the well-equipped EX and the fancy SX Touring. 

With the Niro EV, no gas is needed. The plug-in electric battery system allows you to go for up to 253 miles, according to EPA estimates. This model’s affordability plus its long-distance driving range make it a favorite with those who want to go electric without making as much of an investment.

Output for this system is 201 horsepower and 188 lb-ft of torque.  Niro Wind and Wave trim levels can earn 113 mpg-e in combined driving. 

A surprisingly spacious interior makes everyone comfortable. With 39.5 inches of rear headroom and 39.8 inches of rear legroom, the second row seats adults and teenagers easily. The large backrow is also very accommodating to the process of installing or removing carseats for young children.

Helping keep out the heat and maintain a quieter cabin, the acoustic windshield is tinted with solar control capability. The dual-zone automatic climate controls have a special driver mode that helps save energy when you are the only one in the car.

With 19.4 cu ft in the electric Niros or 22.8-cu ft in the Niro Hybrid, the cargo hold offers travelers plenty of room for their luggage. If you need to haul gear instead of people, they can utilize 63.7 cu ft if the second row is folded. If you utilize the roof, it can handle up to 220 pounds of weight. 

As the entry level model, the Niro LX is still well stocked with tech tools. Cockpits have a 4.3-inch color TFT display and an 8-inch touchscreen. A 10.25-inch touchscreen is a favorite upgrade with even more features and even faster processing.

Driver assistance includes forward collision avoidance with pedestrian detection and emergency autobrake.  The blind spot collision warning, parallel exit, rear cross traffic alert, lane keeping assist, and lane following assist are designed to reduce the chances of accidents caused by side-traffic dangers.

Additional standards include intelligent speed limit assist, driver attention warning, and high beam assist.  Parents will appreciate a rear occupant alert, safe exit warnings, and LATCH attachments.

Higher trims gain junction-turning assist as part of the forward collision avoidance functions . Smart Cruise Control adds stop-and-go capability. When equipped with navigation, the Niro smart cruise adds a navigation-based curve capability for smoother, safer travel.  Highway Driving Assist is a semi-autonomous function.
